you guys cannot be serious! by: outraged at your stupidity
WOW - I don't think I've ever been so amused by reading a bunch of comments before... only one person in here noticed that dolphins don't live in the waters around Denmark, whales rarely enter the waters, and when they do, danes do everything they can to save them.
That you really believe such a 'whale and dolphin killing festival' takes place is beyond me - I'm sure this page, and all who have commented on this subject, are either very ironic people, who do it for the laugh of writing a stupid comment, or are in fact stupid themselves for not thinking before writing their comments.
Please think before commenting on these subjects - you only make fools of yourselves... and have you noticed how no link to an article or proof as to this occurance has been posted... ?

You shouldn't judge a country by what a small group of people do. Denmark is a beautiful country and it has the friendliest people in the world! Please, forgive them they are just tennagers, Danes are wonderful!

How can something so barbaric still be happening. These are not tuna or cod, these are fellow intelligent, feeling, social creatures. They have complex social relationships, much like humans. They demonstrate attachment to each other. We know this as a species. It is a scientific fact. Killing these fellow mammals in a world as it is now is completely unacceptible. This may have been needed 100 years ago but with what we know now it is completely, and utterly shameful and inhumane. Denmark stop this shameful slaughter.

Today, I received a VERY VERY disturbing email/pictures regarding the slauter of dolphins by the teenage boys to prove their manhood.
I am as you can see by the spelling of my last name, of Danish desent and must say I am so appallllllllled at the pictures and story of this event that it makes me ashamed that my ancestors came from Denmark.
Until this practice is stopped I will continue to forward this email around the world requesting all do the same and to boycot your country at all costs. Even if it means loosing plane fare by not going on a planned trip.
THIS HAS GOT TO STOP NOW!!!!!
If a boy needs to attack something to prove his manhood, let them attack each other. Winner take all.

Its not Just Denmark Its United States of America too! It is also Other countries like Japan.
I dont like dolphin kiling either but i dont think Denmark does it. The Danish Waters are WAAAAYYYYY too cold for dolphins. So denmark doesnt even have dolphins!

Who in their right mind would kill poor dolphins, whales.. Yes they kill whales too. Its a dolphin and whale killing festival...

This truly is a crime against these beautiful and to their detriment friendly dolphins. The European Parliament should draft legislation to ensure that it is recognised as not acceptable behaviour, and criminal. As part of this European umbrella cultures with these barbarian traditions need to be informed as such.

Hi, I live in Russia, and we have lot's of subjects to care about apart from some northern Dolphins. And a link to these photos I got occasionally from my English friend living in Turkey...
And we are often lazy to write, when we get excited by something like this, BUT guys, this is SICK. Killing that brutally and massive - for no reason, for fun - teaching your kids do it - on harmless friendly extincting!! animals.
That's truly a SHAME for all people of Denmark, including those who just know of it and doing nothing.
I though Northern Europe was a peaceful place, famous for beautiful NATURE, taken care of, and full of happy relaxed people. BUT THIS IS SICK. Why should you do this?? A good and fair reward would be to put those hooks into murderers bodies back when they finished with dolphins, as we are all quite equal in rights with animals, we are children of one Mother and It wouldn't last long with such attitude.

Today is 3/16/2010 and I just found out about this brutal and disgusting actions going on in Denmark. How can anyone do this, I won't say how can anyone human do this, because humans are killing more and more sea animals, not just by polluting their waters but by hunting and for fun as in this case. I will never visit Denmark although I know not everyone there is for this atrocious activity, but regardless I want nothing to do with it. I would love to say so much more but I'm out of words.
I know that from a young age , children should be taught to love nature, animals and RESPECT their space. So having young men do such things, is just a bad reflection on their society.

Anyone who kills innocent animals or humans are cowards. What are they teaching their children ? To become murderers of helpless animals who can't fight back. Send them all to the military to make real men out of them. Shame on Denmark for letting this happen. The rest of the world is trying to teach our children to save and respect our wildlife. This horrible massacre is sick.

Hearing about Denmark Dolphin Killing makes me as outraged, as the person who reported about it.
Sorry to say, I never heard about it and would like to know the source of those news.
How can anybody club those lovable cetaceans who are known to be man's best friends in the oceans?
Remembering how happy they are cruising the waters by Gibraltar and by the Cape of Southern Africa, where I saw them, I find it hard to adjust my mind to Denmark dolphin killings.
We also have many dolphins in their natural habitat off Los Gigantes in Tenerife. I reside there. The latter is the biggest Canary Island. There, dolphins are very happy sharing clear waters together with pilot whales, above all.
However, what happened in Loro Park Puerto de la Cruz in November 2009 leaves a bitter taste in my mouth for keeping big sea animals in parks or zoos.
By the looks of it, an orca killed a trainer during a show training session. I assume this after I read comments by locals in early web contributions. The latter will not be politically correct, of course. Why? The show must go on, as was also said after a similar incident in another part of the world, not long ago.
At least dolphin shows are somehow different.
To make them actors for mens' amusement is to be preferred to Denmark Dolphin Killing.
